In 20 minutes I’m going to be 18. Eeeep! I’m excited because now I can buy cigarettes. And I can do things without having to have parental consent. Yay.
I’m kind of worried about my birthday. I’m having Stella, Melanie, Allen and Nicole over. I just don’t know how much fun it will be. I have a habit of getting my hopes up for my birthday, and it’s almost always a let down. I might get some cool presents though. I emailed my mom a pretty specific list.
Remember that guy I said I met at the coffee shop on Friday? Well we’ve been texting. Not like 24/7 but a good amount. I kind of really like him. But, like my birthday, I tend to get my hopes up about guys only to be disappointed. He really likes Lord of the Rings though. So maybe we can bond over that. (:
13 minutes.
I have class in the morning. I don’t have to go to high school, but I have English class at 8am. I’ll probably just go back to sleep when it’s over. I’m actually kind of excited to go. Being the only high schooler in the class, they tend to tease me for being 17. But now I can walk in and say “I’m 18 now bitches!”. Which I am excited to do.
Hmm…what else to write about..
Steve is coming home on Wednesday. He’s going to miss my birthday, but at least he’ll be here for Thanksgiving. Hopefully we can spend some quality time together (Allen and I made appointments to go visit his campus on the 28th, finally).
I got an acceptance letter today from this one liberal arts college near Steve’s school. It’s not my top choice, but it was still exciting to actually get the letter. They said that with my grades I get a scholarship worth $18k. Badass right?
After that my dad looked at prices and things on the University of Chicago website, and he said that I should really work hard on my application because financially, it may actually be possible. I hugged him. I would love to live in the same city as Allen and Steve when I graduate, but UChicago is literally my dream school. I don’t know. I first have to see if I can even get in.
This entry probably blows because I’m rushing. I want to finish this before my birthday.
6 minutes.
xoxo,
Melanie
